A Lockdown Mystery
The other day I made a discovery,
An unusual thing hidden
At the bottom of a drawer.
Only a corner peaking out,
But, my attention it snagged.
It had been so long since I'd opened
that treasure chest,
Maybe 3 months (It felt like 3 years at best),
I'd clean forgotten what I had stashed there,
I'd forgotten what this thing even was...
So curious I wandered,
Comparing my strange find,
To what else we used daily.
It was a mystery and I was Holmes
With time to solve it.
Now after some research,
I can tell you for sure,
What this curious artifact
Is most definitely... not.
It's not a knife...
It's not a mouse...
It's not something you can write with...
It's not my phone...
It's not a well-trained pet,
That can sniff out and retrieve
A smelly, missing sock.
It's not a mask,
but perhaps you can wear it?
It's not art...
Wait.
Well actually,
It might be art...
Coz I forgot to tell you,
I dug deeper in that drawer,
I found a whole collection,
Each one quite unique,
Seems to tell a story...
A story about it's creation,
From offcuts
Left for nothing...
A story about the hands that crafted it,
Talented artisans in Zimbabwe...
A story of potential and inspiring,
The young creatives of our country...
Surely they need a gallery?!
An exhibition to share,
This art that canβt stay hidden,
That one might even wear?!
Well, stay close by,
Iβm making this an event.
On the twenty-seventh day of July,
Visit The Zimbowties Gallery,
To see these mysterious treasures,
Weβd love to hear what you think.
